Moveable type comes to Ankh-Morpork and William de Worde is ready to go to press. The people of Ankh-Morpork are eager for the written word but the powers that be are not as eager. William must struggle to feed the beast that is the press while trying to figure out what happened to Lord Vetinari, keep the Commander of the Watch of his back, avoid a werewolf and still keep his land lady from throwing his dinner out.

Pratchett excels here, showing the power of the press and how it must stay in the hands of responsible journalists.
